Abstract

The increasing cost of healthcare for people with chronic and complex medical conditions is well documented. Access to healthcare is also a significant issue for people from rural and regional areas. This digital healthcare technology proposal will enable the provision of timely clinical data in integrated patient-centred clinical reports across health settings and service providers. The project will integrate electronic health records (EHR) with core hospital systems, automatically sending patients’ clinical records to general practitioners and medical specialists. The integration of telemedicine and home monitoring with EHRs will enable persons living in rural and regional areas to be treated locally, rather than traveling to metropolitan areas. The automated interfaces will further support multiple clinical measures and quality of life surveys. It is anticipated that this package of health application capabilities will result in more efficient and effective clinical care. This will facilitate monitoring of clinical performance, health service outcomes and integration between providers.
