Leadership practices

Better Care Victoria (BCV) has a vision for strong leadership that prioritises high-quality healthcare and continuous quality improvement, and is committed to supporting staff from healthcare providers to become innovative leaders.
In 2017, over 200 health service staff were supported to undertake one of the following BCV leadership funded programs:

  • Leadership on the Frontline
  • Executive Leadership for Innovation
  • Professional Certificate in Health Systems Management
  • Clinicians in Redesign

If you were a participant of one of these programs, Safer Care Victoria (SCV) welcomes your involvement in the alumni. For further information please email bcv@safercare.vic.gov.au.

BCV is currently reviewing its leadership development offerings to ensure a continued focus on improving organisational leadership and supporting the next generation of system leaders. BCV will continue to focus on the collective nature of leadership, looking to instil the qualities of good leadership into teams, organisations and system structures. These leadership offerings will focus on known gaps in leadership training and incorporate experience-based learning opportunities.

We are currently running two leadership programs. They are:

  • Leadership team coaching program
  • An alumni program

SCV is concurrently working on establishing a strong evidence base of current leadership learning needs and offerings in the Victorian health sector. If you are interested in providing input into this work please email bcv@safercare.vic.gov.au

Information on future leadership offerings from BCV will be provided when available.
