Aligning to further support Better, Safer Care for Victorians

Following the establishment of Safer Care Victoria (SCV) on 1 January 2017, SCV has worked closely with Better Care Victoria (BCV) to design an organisational structure that maximises the impact of the Victorian quality improvement and innovation agenda.

As a result of this work the role and functions of the BCV team have broadened, providing the opportunity to more fully support improvement and innovation in Victoria’s health sector. This is a positive step to grow and integrate the Government’s quality improvement agenda.

As of 3 July 2017, the team that provides the current functions of BCV will now sit within a new branch of Safer Care Victoria (instead of DHHS) titled ‘System Improvement, Innovation and Leadership’. The BCV Board is established under legislation and will maintain its current role in regards to providing advice to the Minister for Health on Innovation Fund activity.

The team will continue to deliver and support the BCV Board and strategy 2016-20, including capability, leadership and sector led innovation and improvement projects. In addition, the branch will expand to support improvement projects across SCV, coordinate the leadership agenda for the Department and develop a quality improvement research function for Safer Care Victoria.
